Metro – S4300

The trains for Metro Valencia Lines 1, 3 and 5 based on the series 3900 have changed the composition from M-T-M to M-T-T-M, but improving substantially their benefits. Thus new 4300 incorporate a design of traction and power that allows to recover the original benefits of series 3900 of three cars.

The new motors, more powerful, allow to increase the benefits of the present composition and to it a new control equipment of 32 bit, called "Agate", is added. The units will have then a greater power and will improve their acceleration over 1 m/s2, when units 3900 obtain 0.85 m/s2 at most.

Also, in the new series has a computer network control, instead of PWM in the 3900 and a new traction equipment with semiconductors IGBT with forced and self ventilation integrated, that improves the traction equipment by GTO, s of independent natural and self ventilation of its predecessors.

The monitoring by RS 232 of the series 3900 has been replaced by another network FIP of double redundant monitoring to control the vehicle and the driving. In addition the 4300 will have monitoring in the pneumatic brake equipment, with rotating compressors instead of the alternative ones of the 3900.

The air conditioning equipment is allocated in a stainless steel box instead of carbon steel, and the driver's cab without desk improves the visibility, in comparison with the one of classic desk. The controls and push button are all redundant in the new 4300 and the new ATP that replaces the standard of the 3900 is redundant and is prepared to include ATO and distances objective.

From the aesthetic point of view, the design of the previous series is similar but it tends towards a more modern image and more aerodynamic profiles. The chassis improves the glazed surface which equips the 4300 with own personality and emphasizes an air of modernity and greater technological advances.

Another new features will be the new video-monitoring equipment with eight cameras distributed by the passenger departments to increase the security of them and to reduce the vandalism, the facilities for recognising fires and the improvements in the sound insulation of the cars.

The 4300 also has integrated information system, automatic coupling joints, conditioned air equipment independent in cabin and compartment of travellers, possibility of multiple traction, black box and radio train-earth equipment.

The bogie was developed from service-proven sub-systems to ensure optimum reliability. Special care was taken to minimize wheel wear and to ensure optimum passenger comfort and safety levels in the confined subway environment.
