Vossloh España has been awarded the runner-up prize of the international Swedish Steel Prize, presented in Stockholm on 29th November, for developing a new locomotive, the EURO 4000. The designers succeeded in reducing the chassis weight by 25 per cent using high-strength steel, thus achieving more evenly distributed axle weight, better transport economics, lower wear on rails and more protection for the operator. In addition the combination of anti-collision solutions and advanced high-strength steel ensures improved deformation properties in the event of a crash.November 29, 2007
