Vossloh España has more than 80 researchers, engineers and technicians who have at their disposal the most advanced computer equipment endowed with the set of applications covering all aspects of computer assisted design, engineering and manufacturing, calculation programs based on the finite elements method, dynamic simulation, software for testing, vibrations, noise, etc…
We are aware that the R&D work can no longer be the fruit of individual effort and this is why it has signed collaboration agreements with Universities and Research Centres, with the aim of preparing new designs and solutions based on the latest technologies, as well as improving the day-to-day qualities of existing products.
Engineering
The Vossloh España Engineering Centre has a commitment to Innovation. State of the art technology and optimum quality are the characteristics of the whole range of products developed and produced in the Valencia plant. Leader in the Spanish market and exporting to the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Israel, Algeria, Egypt, Brazil, Yugoslavia and to other countries, Vossloh España is designing and producing a wide range of locomotives and passenger vehicles.
Quality control
The Quality Department has three main areas: Quality Engineering, Suppliers Quality and Manufacturing Quality.
Quality Engineering is responsible for documentary aspects, drawing up the Quality and Control Plans for Projects, all of the documentation for upholding the ISO 9001 certificate, the Calibration and Metrology Laboratory, internal and process audits.
Suppliers Quality ensures that the materials provided by suppliers comply with the contractual aspects in their qualitative aspects, performs inspections on the raw material article, monitors supplier deliveries and manages the quality of these using indicators that facilitate follow-up for the quality of their supplies.
Manufacturing Quality is responsible for inspecting the products manufactured in our factories in the different phases of production.
The Quality Department has the equipment and personnel to be able to carry out all the Non-destructive Tests (Radiology, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particles and Diepenetrants), a 200-channel extensiometry apparatus for performing extensiometric tests on Bodies or Bogie chassis, as well as all of the conventional metrological resources for dimensional controls and for other parameters (paint, noise levels, etc…).
ERP management system
As a Production Centre, Vossloh España has an ERP management system for planning the company's resources. This system, which is applied in a SAP R-3 environment, integrates the plant's departments and functions by responding to the specific needs for each work position. The production centre occupies a surface area of 200,000 m2.
Locomotive and passenger carriage sections
These comprise three attached buildings in which the boiler works are performed for building the chassis, the assembly and welding of body shells with universal tooling adaptable to the different vehicle sizes. The Finishing Building set out in a linear flow, providing a production capacity of 150 vehicles/year. All of the stations have work platforms equipped with the materials and tooling necessary for performing all of the operations assigned to each workstation. Electrical fitting, cabling and assembly of cabinets and desks are also carried out in these installations.
Testing building
The assembly buildings are linked to the painting and static tests buildings, which have pits and tracks adapted to the three gauges present in Spain, 1000, 1,435 and 1,688 mm (metric, UIC and RENFE) and overhead contact lines with supply at 750V DC, 1,500V DC, 3,000V DC and 25,000V AC.
Test track
The facilities have a 3 km long line with 750V DC, 1,500V DC, 3,000V DC and 25,000V AC overhead line power supplies and metric, UIC and Iberian gauge tracks, suitable for performing a significant part of the dynamic tests on diesel and electric units prior to these entering commercial service. The track links to the basic Spanish network in Massalfassar, permitting direct exit from the factory to the railway network and direct connection with the Sagunto and Valencia seaports.
Welders' training school
The school provides training in all manual and semi-automatic MIG and MAG welding techniques; it has 12 individualised welding cabins and rooms for theory training and is one of the most active in training for this speciality in the Valencia autonomous region.
